Fever cooling patches for kids

FeverMates fever cooling patches — also known as fever patches — are soft gel patches that stick gently to the forehead and give a cooling sensation that lasts for hours. They are a tidy, fuss-free option for parents who want a cooling patch on hand when a child is unwell, on a hot night, or feeling flushed. They suit children and adults, and adults use them for headaches, migraines and hot flushes too.

Each patch works straight from the pack. There is no pre-freezing and no fridge required, so you can keep a 6-pack in the bathroom cabinet, the nappy bag or the car and reach for one the moment you need it.

Fever patch, cooling patch or gel pack — what's the difference?

A gel pack has to live in the freezer and can feel too cold for a small child; a damp cloth warms up within minutes; a FeverMates fever cooling patch sticks gently to the forehead, works straight from the pack with no pre-freezing, and gives a cooling sensation for hours. You can trim it to fit a small forehead, each patch is single-use, and there are 6 to a pack. It is a comfort measure to use alongside a thermometer — it does not lower a temperature.

How to use FeverMates fever cooling patches

Clean and dry the forehead, then peel the patch from its backing film and press it gently onto the skin, smoothing from one side across. The cooling gel does the rest. For small foreheads you can trim the patch to fit. Each patch is single-use; remove it and apply a fresh one when the cooling sensation fades.

The patches can also be used on the back of the neck, or anywhere the cool feeling is comfortable. Supervise young children, keep patches away from the eyes, and always use a thermometer to confirm a temperature.

How do fever cooling patches work?

A FeverMates fever cooling patch holds a water-based cooling gel against the skin. As the gel sits on a clean, dry forehead it gives a cooling sensation that lasts for hours, which many parents find comforting for a child who is unwell or feeling flushed. It is a comfort measure, not a medicine — it does not lower a temperature or treat a fever, so use it alongside a FeverMates thermometer and normal care, and speak to your GP if you are unsure.

Cooling patches that work straight from the pack — no pre-freezing

Unlike gel packs that have to live in the freezer, FeverMates cooling patches are ready whenever you are. They are light, individually sealed and easy to pack — handy for travel, childcare, a grandparent's place or a day out. Designed in Australia by the team behind Mediband.

How long do FeverMates cooling patches last?

Each patch gives a cooling sensation for several hours, depending on room temperature and skin contact. Once the cool feeling fades, peel it off and apply a fresh one if needed. Each pack contains 6 individually wrapped patches.

Keep a few packs where you need them

Because each pack is light and shelf-stable, many parents keep one in the bathroom cabinet, one in the car and one in the daycare or travel bag, so there is always a fever patch within reach. Stocking up on a few 6-packs means you are not caught short on a hot, restless night. See more from the FeverMates range.

What to keep on hand for a feverish child

Many parents keep cooling patches alongside the basics: a reliable thermometer, plenty of fluids, light clothing and a calm room. For more on reading a temperature see our guides to normal baby temperature and how to bring down a toddler's fever, and how to use a fever cooling patch step by step. If you are unsure whether a child's temperature needs medical attention, speak to your GP, call 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84) where available, or call 000 in an emergency.
